What we like
Watch out for
The Honda City has been India's benchmark sedan for over two decades, and the sixth generation proves why that reputation is hard-earned. The 1.5L i-VTEC is a gem of an engine — smooth, rev-happy and surprisingly fuel-efficient for a naturally aspirated unit. The CVT is one of the better implementations in the segment, with almost no rubber-band effect at highway speeds. The real headline though is the e:HEV hybrid variant — Honda's two-motor strong hybrid system turns the City into a 26+ kmpl machine that feels eerily smooth in city traffic. The 506-litre boot is the largest in the segment, making the City a natural choice for long weekend getaways. Honda Sensing — with lane keep assist, adaptive cruise and collision mitigation braking — is genuinely useful on expressways. The cabin uses quality materials throughout, and the 9-inch touchscreen is crisp with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. If you want a composed, refined sedan with a reputation for bulletproof reliability, the Honda City remains the gold standard.
