What we like
Watch out for
The Harley-Davidson Fat Boy is not a motorcycle you ride — it is a statement you make. Since 1990, the Fat Boy's solid disc wheels and low-slung silhouette have turned heads on every continent, and the 2024 version hasn't lost an ounce of that swagger. The Milwaukee-Eight 114 is the best engine Harley has fitted to a Softail: linear power delivery, 155 Nm of torque available almost from idle, and a signature V-twin thud that reverberates through your chest at traffic lights. At 675 mm, the seat is accessible even for shorter riders, and once moving, the 317 kg mass disappears — the Fat Boy lopes along at 100 km/h with a relaxed cadence that makes long stretches genuinely pleasant. It is expensive, thirsty, and lacks modern electronic rider aids — but no spreadsheet captures what it feels like to roll up on a Fat Boy. That is a price many are willing to pay.
